Biggin Hill

What is Biggin Hill like to fly from?

Is it challenging airspace wise?

Also - if I wanted to hire a C172 which school based at BH would I hire from and how much is it?

Thanks,

Sam

Biggin Hill isn't that scary to fly from. There's a lot of jet traffic at times though, which means GA aircraft have to orbit or hold for jets on the ILS which can get annoying, and with everyman and his dog trying to fly at the weekend, getting up in the week might be easier.

Class G airspace to the southeast of the airfield which means as soon as you leave Biggin, you can do what you like, although Farnborough Radar is available across Kent and Sussex.

I rent a C172 from Alouette Flying Club (www.alouette.org.uk) at £100/Tacho plus landing. PM or e-mail me if you want any more details

getting airbourne

No probs with Biggin, except you can wait a long time to get airbourne.Thats why I moved my training to Headcorn. But that was years ago and they may have improved.

Rochester isnt far.Much less traffic than Biggin.
you rarely wait for a slot. Try Al at Aiwork for a reasonable but tatty 172

What's the weather like this time of year in Biggin Hill?

I've been trying to find the best place in the Uk to finish my PPL because the Belfast weather is terrible. If I can't find a good place I'll just go abroad in March.

Would Biggin Hill be good this time of year or should I go farther south in Kent?

If anyone knows the best place in the UK to fly (Best Weather ), any county, please post.

Hi why not give Lydd a try. I am disabled ( use a wheelchair ) Iam always made to feel welcome and the staff go out of their way to help in any way they can. They have a nice range of planes, c150, c172 and pa28 they look well looked after and prices are good. http://www.lyddaero.co.uk/ I hope this helps R-R

Mods I have no connection with Lydd Aero Club I live 300 miles away, I am just very happy with the service
