London LARS 123.225Mhz

Has anyone made use of the new London LARS service provided by Farnborough on 123.225?

Info HERE

Would be interested to know what kind of service people have received and if they've found it useful?

I have had a superb RIS each time I have asked for it from farn lars, with the most helpful controllers.
I think this is a fantastic addition to the GA service in class G around london.
They have covered me out past Detling and up to LAM.
The only problem I have is that it would be very useful if they could cover the LAM corridor which is were you really need help if IMC or poor VIS though I find Thames Radar always very helpful/

Bit difficult today, as not available apparently for most of the day, due to one reason or another.

Used it a few times for a RIS, fantastic service and a big plus for the south east.

Ditto, especially when Thames are too busy.

Due to open North of the Heathrow Zone in the Spring, I believe.

It all depends what the workload is like; if there aren't too many on frequency, then it would seem reasonable to 'stretch' the service just past the northern boundary a few miles to get you past LAM, but you have to bear in mind Stapleford ATZ (LAM being on the airfield) is VERY active and it's the pilot's responsibility to either avoid or communicate with the ATS unit providing the ATZ service whether TWR, FIS or A/G.(in this case A/G)
