pilot portrait

As i strolled about the Aero Expo last year I walked past a man and noticed that he had a name badge on. I notice these sorts of things oddly and when i saw the same man again, i looked at the badge and he is the editor of Today's Pilot. I asked him if i could have his card because i wanted to write to him and tell him about my challenge to become a pilot. Well, i did not expect to get a reply as i know how busy editors of magazines are. Late last year after i finished my training, I met with Helen Krasner, a journalist and a helicopter instructor, (how very cool i thought): We sat and chatted for many hours at the Cranfield cafe discussing the many adventures that i have had in my life from learning to fly to managing Pete Doherty.
For those that wonder what is possible in the face of adversity when living with a disability, then here is a very good example of an individual who has had ups and downs in life, like we all do, but somehow still keeps going forward and breaking down brick walls that are put in the way.

MrShoe,

You don't say if you actually got a response from Mr TP Editor - did you? I have found him to be very responsive & courteous to emails so I expect you did.

To add to your comments about flying with disability, my little brother came with me to the NEC show in November and he got an excellent response from the organisations he spoke to as well as follow up from Flyability which has prompted him to start down a not dissimilar track. As you say, it is about knocking down teh walls but I would add that the flying fraternity do seem to be very positive in encouragement in this area.
