In 2007 I flew 49 hours between 1 June and 10 June. All VFR in the UK (Isle of Man/NI/ROI/Scotland)
In 2006 I flew 47 hours between 2 June and 12 June. All VFR in the UK (Isle of Man/NI/ROI/Scotland)
In 2005 I flew 48.5 hours between 17 Dec and 7 Jan. All VFR in Florida
I always take 10 days holiday in the first week of June and always get at least 45 hours done.
Aircraft availability and an Intsructor availability are the key. Possibly also having the balls to say "the weather is marginal but legal so lets fly" and instructor with matching balls.

It is cheaper in the USA.....
But time off could be a problem. My mate did his in 2x 2week stints back in 2000 for this reason.
Looking a flights, in March you can get LHR to LAX return for £299.....
I'd have learned in the UK but for a) a 30 mile drive for each lesson, b) the cost, c) the length of time it'd take and d) the unpredictable weather. I did mine in 5 weeks, I could have completed in 4 but for fog the last week, and it was a great holiday which cost about $5000.....back in 2000 though.
Good luck!
