Skills test in the morning
Evening all......
Have my skills test in the morning at 8.00hrs out of Bristol lulsgate, tried to do it this morning but it was gusting 20+kts. After 2 years of training didn't think tomorrow would ever arrive.
Route will be out via cheddar resevoir, nav down to Crediton with a westerly turn towards Barnstable. Expect a diversion half way along this leg...... Landings at Dunkeswell and emergency procedures enroute back up to Bristol........ Wish me luck........

All the very best of luck. As someone else who spent two years training thanks to the vagaries of our great British weather I know how you feel. Just try to relax as much as possible and let the training take over.
Ditto the comment that the CFI wants you to pass. Just be sure to point out anything that you do wrong once you spot it. It helps highlight the fact that you know you did something wrong and simply went about correcting it.

One thing you should be aware of at Dunkeswell is that they offer a 20oz steak on the lunch menu.
I tried it when we were down there for the aeros competition in July - served rare. I put my mediocre performance of the Known sequence down to the fact I'd consumed a lightly grilled lump of red meat the size of a small duvet - and was struggling to finish the chips - didn't even attempt the salad garnish.
I'd hate for you to get peckish, and then have to re-do your W&B half way round.
Best of luck tomorrow!

PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOOO
Thanks everyone... All went well. Took off from Bristol lulsgate at 0800 on 270, wind was about 300 at 15kts. Routed out as usual via Cheddar and started the nav exercise southwest to Cedition, down over Bridgewater and Taunton. At Credition made a right turn towards Barnstable. Halfway along this track examiner gave me a diversion to Dunkeswell which went a bit bandy. I don't trust my heading and eta's and end up track crawling a bit.
Made it to Dunkeswell eventually and carried out 1 landing on 350, which was a bit low. Wind was too strong so we took off again and headed north towards bristol again. Carried out my engine failures, step turns, stalls general handling etc here and all went well. After that re-entered the Bristol airspace and carried out 3 landings in between the easyjets. 1 normal, 1 flapless, and 1 glide. These all went well.... Shutdown. Congradulations you have passed. Didn't think i would ever here that.
At the end of the day the examiner pointed out all my mistakes afterwards and was happy the if i got lost i could VOR position myself, could handle the aircraft if i had an emergeny and get down safely....
I suppose the learning starts from here now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on the pass. I did the same thing on my divert with the crawling and looking back ( to last week ) it was being able to use position fixing with VORS that got me through that part. Well done and enjoy the ticket.
