my general flight test tomorrow

My General flight will be tomorrow afternoon from 3pm local. Slightly worried about it as the examiner has 30,000 hrs of flying and teaching student pilots. I have been trained well and it is the one thing that i have been looking forward to since i started, the ability to fly an aeroplane. I am 24hrs away from my fate.

Until i can get back to writing about how it goes tomorrow, here are a few bits of news stories to do with my pilot training.

A DISABLED man has moved a big step closer to fulfilling his dream of becoming a pilot after completing his first solo flight - thanks in part to the team at a north Hampshire-based charity.

Polio victim Gautam Lewis, 30, is only able to walk with the aid of crutches, but has been training for the past six months to gain his private pilot’s licence. Please follow this link to read the rest of the story

Here is the footage from ITV Anglia news piece on pilot training for people with Disabilities from Cranfield Flight Training. To launch the video please click on the below address

my head in the clouds, but my feet are on the ground. I hope to report a positive outcome from my flight test.....

Good luck Gautam!

If you've not already arranged so, try and get an hour or two in the air tomorrow morning. Helps to settle your nerves - It did for me.

Let us know how you get on.

Yep good luck!

I was actually very sad the day before my GST. I took off with my instructor and realised that something I had enjoyed very much was coming to an end.

I can't explain why, but it had been very pleasent going to the school and sitting down to learn all sorts of interesting things about navigating.

I know that a license is a "license to learn" rather than a "license to practice" but I was still a little sad to see the end of training....

Good luck tomorrow. It's only an agonising 4 week wait after that to send the license through. It was only when I had that in my hand I really felt a sense of achievement....

.....yep best of luck. Just remember that your instructor won't have put you forward for your GFT unless he thought that you were more than ready for it.

I'd say that if your examiner has c30,000 hrs then that is a good thing as he/she will put you at ease and the whole thing will turn out nice and easy.

If you can't get in the air beforehand I'd certainly recommend getting to the airfield nice and early, and getting into the aviation mindset. Also, don't forget to ask the examiner how much they weigh for the W&B.

All the best.

Good Luck mate!

You have got this far, you should know by now in the back of your mind whether you can do it. It doesn't matter how many hours your examiner has, only you know if you will be ok and from what I have followed, you will be ok!

If you get too nervous simply have a few pints of strong european lager to settle your nerves!!!

Seriously though, I, and all reading this, wish you well. I hope when you finish you come here and describe what happened for us all to see, good news or bad, come back and tell us about it.

All the best mate, I am sure everyone thinks the same here.

Good Luck. I'll be looking out onto the runway for you

Good Luck. I'll be looking out onto the runway for you.

I'm just by the Patriot Aviation hangar so give me a wave when you go past.

Wow

Not sure where you are based, but for the majority of England it looks like you couldn't have asked for better flying weather. Especially down in the South East. Nice cold, crisp morning, great vis, perfect flying weather.

Good luck!

Good luck Gautam, I did what AV8 said for my test, had an hour or so of revision (in the air, not books) before the test. Was far more relaxed when it came to the crunch.
Hope it goes well for you, the weather is looking good at the minute.

I will be back here after tea to read about your pass.

From up here in Manchester it's a fantastic day for flying, so I hope (i) you've got the weather and (ii) it's going ok.

Let's hope so. Barton on Sunday was 214Kt15G30 and I found it very difficult - feel like it's set me back 6mths.

MrS is certainly doing well - QXC last week, GST this week. Good man. Let's hope he nails it.
