Anyone been in to Gigha recently?

What's the runway like? Have they mowed it at all this season? Is it boggy?

Was there 9 June. Windsock gone. Strip looked ok (but not great) from the air, but was surprisingly good when on the deck. Firm, grass not too long, dry, but with quite a few lumps and clumps of that marsh-grass stuff.

Got my surface wind (sort of) from the orientation of the 3 wind-energy machines just to the NW of the strip.

Thanks IM. Were you in your Chipmunk or some other type?

Yes, I should have qualified my comments with type flown - was indeed in a Chipmunk. I think it rather flattered my perception of the strip both in terms of the ride over the ground and the performance achieved. I might have been a bit more circumspect in a nosewheel type.
