Aircraft Paint Shops

I had my aircraft resprayed 4 years ago by an outfit I won't name. They did an appalling job and I can see myself having to have the job repeated soon

Are there any recommendations please.

I recommend that you don't go back to the nameless cowboys!

Colton's - Little Staughton. I had a share in an aircraft painted there in 1998. It still looks as good today as the day it came out of the paint shop.

Mick Allen or Coltons or whoever stole our painter (fast Mick) from East Winch - last seen drinking thinners at Southend!

Another tick for Mick Allen for me - he does our fleet aircraft, many of our customers and he did mine!

Beware those without a queue, those who haven't been round for long and those that are cheapest - there are reasons (as it would appear you may have found out, sadly).

Ask for registrations of aircraft that have been painted a few years back, Google the reg, find out where they live and go and have a look - good excuse to go visiting different airfields! Also visit the paintshop to see aircraft in various stages.

It seems that for most painting outfits there is a very clear price/performance relation.
