Training for UK CAA PPL in US?

Hi all,

I want to gain a UK PPL but am considering doing the groundschool here then heading over to the US for the flying training. Is this possible or have I missed something? I know there are compatibility issues between CAA & FAA rules but surely I can come back to the UK and get a PPL issued if I have completed the required hours?

Also, has anyone had any experience of flying private in the US?

Thanks

A.

SoCal, you think we should write the definitive article on this, and then see if the moderators can make it into a sticky or something? I've only been on this forum a few weeks now and seen this question at least three times.
