Getting FAA Certificate

Am intending to fly in the US this summer, so need to get an FAA temp certificate. I last did this in 1996, long before that dreadful day in 2001, so I realise the process has changed...I understand the CAA have to authenticate your UK PPL or something?

Would someone be kind enough to outline the current process, plus any advice?

I though I'd ask on pprune first......

Thanks

Yes I did receive a perm certificate, but will need a duplicate. Will go and check out the FAA website and get one sorted. Thanks for your advice.

IF you received a FAA certificate issued on the strength of your UK license, you will have to go through the Cert of Authenticity process. This process involves the UK CAA who have to confirm to the FAA that your UK license is valid and current.
Entirely true; ******** corrected SoCal is right *******
If you have traded your UK license for a JAR license the number will be different, in that case you have to go through the "validation" process.

You should be in the FAA airman database:

The FAA website links to a general CAA PLD Payment Method Form. Is that right? Isn't there a specific CAA form to complete too?
