These guys fly from Altenrhein, you can book a flight for 7500 SFR.

Probably ex-military pilots who have done this before.

I know it is, cos I've had a go - well nearly.

I had a few weeks with the Swiss Air Force but they'd only let me get my grubby paws on a Pilatus Porter and we were constantly bounced by the Hunters (then still in service) as we tried to knock climbers off with our wheels.

The closest I remember getting was to a Japanese climber - yes I could tell he was Japanese.

All right, he had more speed, manoeuvrability and sheer power and did get to fly one of the most beautiful and iconic aeroplanes of the century but he didn't land on that glacier for a picnic.

Yes, I'm putting it on the to do when my numbers come up list.

That is amazing, that Matterhorn climb looks particularly scary... the sort of thing you try in a flight sim when messing about, but in real life!

Does anyone care to hazard a guess as to how close to the limit a climb like that would be for a Hunter, i.e. how close to stall speed it would be over the top?

Clever remake, but what fun the real thing must be.

"that Matterhorn climb looks particularly scary"
Can't see why.
Looks like sheer unadulterated joy to me.

FL - how am I supposed to save all my money to fly in SS2 if you keep showing me how I could spend it in the meantime.... That was absolutely breathtaking, and is now on my Christmas wish list...
