Low Utilisation Self-Drive

I'm contemplating doing some trips round Europe this year, starting/ending in UK, using a hired single or perhaps a twin for transport.....

Very low average use per day, of course (1-2 hours?) and away for 1-2 weeks at a time. Very much as I once used my own aircraft, and as I guess owners still do.

I've trawled Google for UK companies supplying this need, with limited success. Even shorter periods (eg weekends or mid-weeks) seem difficult.

Any users out there who can advise, in general terms if the Mods won't allow names, on the availability situation for simple self-drive hire with low daily use, at reasonable rates? (No specific advertising, please!)

What's your experience in this area, as a hirer?

I'm intrigued; does lack of supply mean lack of demand?
