How to fold a map

There used to be a very good thread on here about how to fold a map, but I can't find it. Can anyone help? It was a few years ago.

Cheers,

QDM

I have it as a PDF file with nice pictures to help you.

If anyone wants me to send them a copy (it's only 211kb), send me a PM with your email address, and I will send it to you

lazy man's guide to map folding

Easiest option - buy a prefolded one from those nice people at transair.
Costs just as much as the non-folded and fits in the carrier bag more easily.

If the shop are out of prefolded maps ask if they can give you a quick demo as map folding is a skill you've always been envious of and have yet to master!

The pre-folded maps aren't folded correctly.

An examiner once explained to me how to fold a map:

(1) Fold the map. Any old how, doesn't matter.

(2) Pick an airfield in the middle of the visible bit you've ended up with.

(3) Base your aircraft there.
