Engine problems near Popham this morning

Someone was having a hard time with an engine problem this morning around 1100Z and was diverting to Popham. Sounded like his engine perked up enough for a safe landing at Popham - was he OK?

I was GWACP transitting overhead Boscombe at the time.

How does that work then ? If the guy had gone off freq to talk to Popham ... ???

Or am I just in post-pub mode ?
