Any advice would be helpful for me re: preferred airfield for Venice.
Am going to mestre area next weekend and need 1000m tarmac and avgas.
IO540 - where did you end up landing and did they have fuel?
Thanks,
SB

I went to Padova (LIPU); an excellent well organised airfield with avgas. Customs is PPR; a few hours' fax notice I believe. Padova is getting an ILS soon too.
The management of all of UK's "middle sized" airfields should be sent to (a) Cannes and (b) Padova, for a lesson on how to deliver customer service. I think most of Italy and all of Greece except Sitia (LGST), likewise

Padova instead of Venezia
Thanks IO,
Looks like you had a lot of fun last month.
Padova is only a short hop from Venice as I recall so we will probably rent a car or arrange a lift.
All the best,
SB

Venice is 45 mins by train or > 1hr by bus from Padova.
I think Padova is trying to set itself up as a business airport serving the area.
Trieste LIPQ is similarly friendly (and has both Customs and Avgas, with a 5hr PPR by fax they say) but Padova is better organised for the avgas bit. Trieste is IMHO a far nicer city to look around than Padova.
