Quick Question - Adf/ndb

Just wondering how you tune an ADF to a frequency of 349.5 (like Compton Abbass). I am happy with whole numbers but how do you tune to the 0.5?

It's just a medium wave radio. (Well, not "just", but "basically".)

Try tuning your tranny off by 0.5kHz and see if it makes any different to the music.

Not all units have the 0.5s. 349 will work. If not type 350. Just check that you get an ID, it is pointing the right direction and the needle it isn't hunting. The ANT button test doesn't hurt either.

Thanks for that. So why have the 0.5 at all?

Ah!! - now that's a rather harder question to guess the answer to.

I don't know. But the .5 khz bit seems to be part of a standard for commercial ops. Probably just more tunability? Genghis usually steps in at this point

An older C90 Kingair I fly is able to tune the .5 MHz. The unit selector has a half step between the unit digits. It's a mechanical drum type with clear detents between each number.
