Up in Scotland, the BBC forecast is next to useless, far better to work on the F215 and local knowledge. Perhaps it's different 'darn sarf' ?

Will the event be cancelled if the weather is bad?
We have no current plans to cancel this event and it would have to be pretty bad weather for the event to be cancelled. If we are informed the day before the event that it cannot go ahead, we will text all ticket holders with this news. As long as you supplied a correct mobile number when you booked your ticket you will be kept informed.

In their FAQs
You will receive a full refund if the Red Bull Air Race is cancelled (i.e. no race or display planes fly at Longleat between 12:30 and 18:00 on 2nd September 2006. Money will be credited to the original purchaser’s credit or debit card and cannot be refunded to other individual’s or by any other means. Red Bull apologises that it cannot refund for travel, accommodation or any other costs incurred by people attending the cancelled event.

25,000 vehicles at £35 a pop provides a huge commercial incentive not to cancel for weather until they know what the weather is actually like, and as we all know, that will not be until tomorrow. Don't think we will be heading out as it's a four hour drive and the weather is going to be rubbish no matter, so will catch them some other time.

Wasn't it last year in Ireland that the weather was pretty naff??? (Though not as naff as that TAF!) They did fly then...
I reckon they will not call it off until the very last minute - as they might get airborne in the gaps.

Imagine being the pilot staring at that TAF. The pressure to scrape around for just one circuit must be overwhelming.

Went last year and weather was fantastic. Not going this year though.
The weather at the moment near Longleat (I am currently about 3 miles away) is good enough for flying, no low cloud, looks to be at about 4000 ft towards longleat.
Longleat sits down at the bottom of a hill so hopefully it might be a bit protected from the elements.
Hope the weather is good for tomorrow.
Watch the traffic at the end though! Last year me and a friend walked out of the venue past all the queuing cars and were home in 20 mins. Got my Dad to pick us up down a country lane!

Jusy my humble opinion on this.
If these boys can't fly in the rain then non of us should be allowed to!!
If they only need like a 2-3 minute window to get a lap in then surely they will fly.

But we mere PPLs are (or should be) only concerned with our safety. These guys are a commercial operation and may be pressurised to make at least one sortie so that the company can avoid big payouts

For those of you that are going weather at the moment towards Longleat is ok.
Vis is at least 3 miles, not sure what height the clouds are. I can see the top of a Hill 3 miles from here next to one of the entrances to longleat and the area where the Air Race is taking place is to the south of that is at a lower height so hopefully ok there as well.
Have fun, some of us have to drive up to LHR now to go to work!!

Latest News: Apparently it has been cancelled due to the weather.
Shame for all those that went, weather was ok when I left the area at 0715 this morning!
