Holiday textbook reading?

For my past few holidays I've had to sit by the pool cramming the Trevor Thom series. However earlier this year I passed my PPL (A) and, although I still see how Thom is valuable for revision, I'm now looking to progress my holiday reading.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good textbooks that would help me should I choose to move towards a CPL?
Was thinking of getting a couple of the Oxford ATPL series, maybe Law and met? Will this be a waste of time/money?
Thanks

You might get a more informative answer on one of the pro-wannabe forums.

If it's a case of improving your understanding of flying, something like "Stick and Rudder" or Brian Cosgrove's "Pilots weather" would be worthwhile.
