Guernsey
I have done a search and come up with a few posts with regards going to Guernsey but does anyone know of a website or has anyone got a good checklist for flying abroad to Guernsey & France?, the obvious ones are the Gen Dec (GAR), flight plans (SVFR to Channel Isle), passport, life jackets etc.
I am due to fly to Guernsey via Exeter in the next couple of weeks, anyone done this route via Berryhead etc who can pass on their experience?
Thanks
Dean

Guernsey via Berry head is a doddle. File a flight plan, give local customs and special branch 12 hours notice, get the latest weather from the Guernsey aeroclub site . Leaving Berryhead you should miss the Plymouth danger areas, call Jersey zone 125.2 expect to report 50 North and north east corner of the Island for 27 or with luck left base for 09 along the coast. After parking either walk around to the terminal or call sercurity to go through the gate either way a pain in the rear end. Enjoy the trip incidentally you should now be able to get duty frees taken out to your aircraft. I made enough noise a couple of years ago about the then lack of this facility. There is a good bus service from the terminal into town, if you are going for the rally they will most likely take care of you---cheers

sorry--forgot you asked about France no need for special branch if going direct to France also no need if going to Guernsey via France not sure how much you need to know about flying in France if its part of the Guernsey rally and you are starting from Guernsey then the organisers will give you all the gen, if you are planning trips to France then we have a new ball game but in no way difficult--happy to pass on more info if needed--cheers

Guys
Thanks a million for the responses, much appreciated, I'm going in a PA-28
Also the Guernsey & France trips are separate entities, the France trip will be part of my CPL QXC, and the guernsey because, well, because I can lol, whichever way it it be a nice adventure for someone used to flying over terra firma.
Thanks again guys

Make sure you bring your camera!
Cross water photos on a sunny day can be gorgeous!
One other minor point...at the North West corner of the Jersey Zone there is a piece of Class A airspace that goes from FL55-FL195 (Just south of SKERY). Don't forget that as it's a CTA not a CTR you can't get a SVFR clearance into that bit.
I really wish they'd make that Class A to to ground, so I didn't have to descend there.

And cheers for the head's up, I'll study the map closely
