My medical problem!

I've just checked the details of my class 2 medical which I got in July 2001. It says I should've had a Medical (general) exam on the the 23 of July this year, which obviously, I've stupidly missed.

Clearly my medical is iinvalid, but what happens now. Can I just arrange to have this medical and even though it's late, just carry on as normal, or will I be hung, drawn and quartered by the CAA?

Additionally, I have some questions.

1. What happens in this second medical compared to the first comprehensive one.

2. And do I have to go to an approved aviation doctor?

3. How much will it cost. My inital one cost about £150, and that was 5 years ago!

Cheers,

Assuming that you are talking about a PPL, the answers are:

1. It will be the same

2. You must go to an Authorised Medical Examiner

3. Cost will be £80 - £150 dpending on where you go and if you need an ECG

You can fly again as soon as you have passed. Do not fly until you have.

Pulse 1

Thanks for the info. And I won't fly as PIC. But what if I fly with another PPL. Can I at least do the radio?

Cheers

Flock 1. Yes you could do the radio as you hold an RT licence.

Give Dr. White a call at Falcon House surgery, Byker. Cheap as chips and a top bloke. He'll fit you in at short notice, usually on a night time about 5pm.

You can't exercise the privileges of a pilot's licence without a valid medical.

I suspect you're in the clear for a FRTOL, also anyone is allowed to use the radio under the direction of a licence holder IIRC.
