Tree Strike!

I still find it hard to believe that the pilot felt such little reaction from the aircraft when hiting a tree and ripping the end of his wing off.

It's still there, in Jersey, one wing down on the traditional flying configuration. Saw it today!

I find it very easy to believe nobody felt anything. I remember a documentary years ago reported on an experiment air accident investigators did -- they either simulated a crash or crashed a 737 on remote control. Either way the conclusion of the experiment was that you could rip the wings off, you could rip the undercarriage off but, short of a direct impact on the fuselage, occupants would not feel much at all.
