Skydiving piloting

I am curious to know how to get into piloting aircraft that drop their passengers out half-way through. A PPL friend of mine mentioned that Langar airfield near me (Notts) has a couple of Caravans that they use for parachuting. If I remember Air Law correctly that's one of the things you're allowed to do with a PPL, provided you don't get paid for it. Does anyone know what kind of experience you'd need? Is there a turbine rating that you need as well?

Do pardon my ignorance

Cheers

you will find you need a single turbine rating along with 1000hrs to fly there caravans so its not quite so easy to get into as you might think - but damn good fun !
