Rans S-10 Sakota

Ok - I've made my final desicion on building a homebuild/PFA type - that is, I can build it if

a) It's almost foolproof to build, and
b) It's cheap(ish)

So if I want something that fits these citeria AND is aerobatic (one up), I need look no further then the Sakota (ideally with a Rotax 912S but that's just more money). Alternatively I can just buy one for around €15k (£10k).

So, who's flown one? What's it like to fly/aerobat? How much does it cost to run? Insurance? Easy to build? Am I likely to end up in a ditch upside down?

A pity it looks like a Taiwanese copy of the Extra 300

All replys go into a draw for the dram of their choice

Check out the Corby Starlet. At least it looks sexy.

And do try to have a flight in whatever you want to build - before you buy one.

No,No, No No, No !

1 stick, Rotax powered, handles like a pig, tried to kill my Bro.

Bite the bullet and build an RV, you know it makes sense !

Alternatively, borrow the money and buy something to fly now, build something later.

the one flight I had in an S10, as pax on a hot day, I have to say I was not impressed. Among the dislikes were the diagonal tube across the cockpit, above the crews knees; the 2-stroke smell that seemed to fill the cockpit; the lack of ventilation; the generally twitchy handling. In fact it was the only flight I've ever had that I wanted to finish before I was ill. I didn't tell the owner, it was his pride and joy.....
