Private flying in Dallas area (TX)

I have a trip planned to Dallas (TX) in the end of Februari 2006 (work related) and thought that I might visit an aero club while I'm there and do an hour flying in the area.

Does anyone have a hint of good clubs in that area that have a Piper + Instructor to hire? (I have a valid JAR PPL).

Thanks in advance.

dunno about a Piper, but you have Centre Line American Flyers and Monarch at Addison, Monarch also at McKinney, Cothran (I think) at Arlington.

Addison (KADS) is your best bet.

I'll look into it some more.

Last May '04 I took a glider ride with an instructor and no id was asked for -- caveat volatility of TSA rulemaking.

Of course great gobs of bureaucracy required if you want to fly solo on a US registered a/c.

Sadly the same regime has recently been imposed in Australia which forced an air safari outfit that catered to foreign pilots for many years without incident to go out of business

So far there's not any bureaucratic barriers to Canadians flying down in Canadian a/c.

Perhaps there's a business opportunity for G- and C- reg rental a/c in the US and OZ

Have a look at Ft Worth (Meacham Field, I think). I did my PPL there, and was living with a girl in Dallas at the time. Took about 40 mins to drive out if memory serves me well. The school I flew with is long gone, but there were several others.
