import your A/C VAT free

This is good news!!!!

We can now get arround the VAT by simply letting Danish companies import the aircrafts we buy eg in the US.
I saw it on www.the-airplane-company.com

Just for info

A number of "aircraft consultancy" outfits offer this service. One of the trust registration agents, Avcorp I believe, do the same.

It's not cheap, of course. They know that you (assuming you are NOT a VAT registered person or corporate body **) will save 17.5% so they charge you a good whack for passing the plane through the Danish ownership.

A lot of people are saying this device will be plugged soon, but a seminar I went to recently (an aviation lawyer, etc) indicated that while UK Customs really hate it, and have protested to the EU, they can't do anything about it.

** Otherwise, there is no VAT saving because you claim it back. However it may still be worth doing because a VAT-free plane is more marketable. Or the proposed usage would not qualify for a full VAT reclaim...

I understand that this loophole does not apply to sports aircraft - gliders and aerobatic types!!

I donīt know about gliders and aerobatic. But on a UDS300.000 A/C one could save quite a lot of money. And according to the 6th eu directive I donīt think they will close that loop hole

Sadly aerobatic types do not qualify for the zero rate; this includes warbirds. Not an incentive to keep the old dears flying.
