why is a/c rental so expensive
often wondered this;
why is it €120 to hire a C150 in Dublin and $60 in Florida?
like what is the break down?
Is it high insurance, tax...or is just sheer profiteering?what is it?

Taking a C150 burning 8 USG per hour....
100LL at Naples, Florida - $29.28 or about €24 per hour
100LL at Weston = €1.75 per litre = €6.62 per USG, or about €53 per hour.
As Dutch says, utilisation then becomes an issue also where a Florida-based C150 might fly an average of 8-10 hours per day over the course of a year, a Weston-based C150 would be lucky to average 3 hours per day.

Pipergirl,
People in Ireland earn much more than people in Florida for similar jobs.
How many hours would you have to work in Ireland to pay for one hour in a C150?
Florida pilots probably have to work the same amount of time to earn enough to rent a C150 in their home state.
