Leeds Bradford query

Is there a requirement to use a handling company at LBA for a private flight or can one 'self handle'?

Tis a few years since I was there last and it was pretty relaxed then. I suspect things may have changed.

My understanding from my flying school is that it is mandatory and is enforced.

A quick look at Pooleys:

"Handling for all aircraft including those for maintenance mandatory

Suitable handling arrangements required prior to arrival.

Southside: Multiflight

Due to security and safety restrictions, all non-based aircraft are required to co-ordinate parking on southside Aprons with Multiflight."

So I guess the answer is yes...

Landing and handlin works out at about £45 if you uplift 50litres of go go juice. For that you do get a good service tho. Well I did anyway.

The nice man did frown when he found out I hadn't phoned the TWR to book out... I pointed out he was my handling agent and he did it for me! all good!

Its a while since I last flew in but isn't the Flying Club still there.
I used them and only paid £10 in a twin commanche.
Probably more now but still a lot cheaper than the commercial guys.
