Angry Garmin 530 fraud

In case any of you are tempted to buy a second hand Garmin 530 (or 430) over the internet, please be aware that there is a fraudster operating. I've found him on the following two sites:

http://www.aviationlistings.com/phpB...opic.php?t=512

http://www.barnstormers.com/cat.php?...ed7ce47bf47657

(Barnstormers.com, Avionics for Sale, page 10, Martin Per Inge )

The basic scam is to offer a nearly new unit. All you have to do is send $7,000 to his bank's 'escrow' account and he will ship the unit to you from his base in Malaga, Spain. Once sent you will neither receive the 530 nor ever see your money again!

I met a pilot at an air show a few months ago who had sadly fallen for this scam and was feeling pretty grim about it all. Whilst looking for one myself over the past couple of weeks I realised I had bumped into (presumably) the same fellow.

Please beware!
