Dutch refuelling spots
Hi all,
I'm currently planning a trip to Prague, and my initial route is more or less a straight line from Norwich over the North sea, via Rotterdam, through Germany and on to Prague. Not exactly, but if you were to look at a map, you'd see where I'm coming from.
What I'm after is somewhere to stop and refuel once I get into Holland. Rotterdam is the obvious place in terms of the route, but it's expensive and takes ages to go through the formalities (I speak from experience). The flip side, however, is that it has fantastic facilities for obtaining weather and filing of flight plans etc.
So, can anyone recommend somewhere which is not stupidly expensive, with good facilities (and AVGAS!), not too much further than Rotterdam (I'd do another hour perhaps but no more) ?
Thanks,
FF

Muenster-Osnabrueck (EDDG) is well-equipped, has Avgas, Customs, is fairly GA friendly and is reasonably priced. It may be a little far north as a stop, and may be at the limit of your hour, but if you're intending to go north of Duesseldorf anyway, it's not far off.

Spa in belgium should be in reach and has good food ,customs and flight plan
Thereafter direct across Gramany to Karlovy Vary a truly delightful spa town just over the border in Czech. good night stop, ,hotels, food and a great treat to stroll its traffic free riverside streets

You could try Hoogeveen, which is a little further north east, if you have the range. Excellent large grass strip - one of the homes of classic aviation in Holland. Very helpful and friendly and a nice little cafe for lunch as well.
Otherwise MIdden Zeeland is very good if you don;t have the range.
Remember though that fuel in Holland is eye-wateringly expensive...

Midden-Zeeland or Seppe would be good alternatives, and are pretty close to your route. A bit further north you've got Hilversum, Lelystad or Teuge. Even more north, Texel might be worth a look, while Hoogeveen is closer to the German border. For the details, have a look at the documentation on this site (Dutch AIP, look under AIS publications).
