The aircraft, an old-fashioned white Cessna 150 that weighs about 1,000 pounds and has a top speed of 160 mph
Anyone want to but a green and white, 160mph C150?

Keep your charts up to date? Did someone move washington since the last chart was issued.

Anyway the thing I really wanted to know is how does an F16 which must be doing 200kt intercept a cessna at 100kts. Do they just fly round in circles waggling their wings while mate 2 lines up 5 miles behind for the missile shot?

Simple. The interception was achieved by Blackhawk Helicopters.

Well I suppose if you live somewhere that has experienced the carnage of 9/11 you would be a touch jumpy.

It's so easy to sit here all smug and criticise others.

They are lucky that it ended the way it did.

Guys, you are mistaken!

This was a UK Department for Transport (DfT) ramp check on a UK pilot who just happened to be flying an American registered aircraft in the UK........

No but the restricted airspace went from 5nm to 15nm around certain areas.

So if you live in a city that suffered 30 years of IRA bombing it could be considered over the top, but if you live in Washington, that's had one attack, it isn't?

God forbid the day when someone mistakes London for Gillingham (a terrible mistake, I know) and gets shot out of the sky for it.

Thank god our nuclear power stations are protected by 2 mile/2000ft exclusion zones. At least they are safe
