Airport reopened, however still unclear what aircraft type it was.

And no sooner had the ink dried on the first press reports, did local politicians start pontificating about standards of safety at BHD and the usual ill informed comments like "what if had been an Airbus". They are now pressing for a suspension of expansion plans at the airport following this incident. Remarks like this are insensitive in the extreme and unhelpful to say the least.
It never ceases to amaze me when supposedly responsible elected representatives are prone to such statements before being in full possession of the facts.

This is a real shock - I've known Mike for some 40 years (and his wife Hazel, who was hopefully not with him). I know Mike used his Beech a great deal in his capacity as a judge/competitor in shooting competitions around the British Isles - he was pretty experienced as far as I am aware.
If anyone has any further news, I would appreciate a PM. Many thanks.

Hope the pilots ok heard he did a good job right engine out with a left turn into the only clear grass area. Approx 50% burns I believe. Also best wishes to my former collegues who where on duty witnessing a plane narrowly avoiding the tower and going up in flames must have been scarey enough.
Cheap shot by NI politicans. Work out how to get money into the country not out of it.

At today's meeting of Cambridge City Council's Environment Scrutiny Committee (agenda here) I was defending GA.
The vast majority of people, of course, do not vote in local elections at all, so they can hardly complain when the repesentatives they couldn't be arsed to elect make decisions they don't like.
Right?

Please, lets not use this thread to have cheap shots at politcians, people not voting etc. A man is in hospital after narrowly avoiding being killed, if your gonna post here, then only messages of goodwill please
Good luck and get well soon Mike, from all at Ronaldsway!!!

I've not been able to find out much, but Mike is still hanging on in there, and is in a "stable" condition in Royal Victoria ICU in Belfast. He had another bout in theatre yesterday, and is still pretty poorly as you may guess. I fear it's going to be a pretty long job.........
