Super Decathlon

Am flying a Super Decathlon on Sunday - haven't got a POH and can't find much online (dial up is killing me - broadband broken!)

Can anyone tell me:

Norm. operating RPM + MP/VNO/cruise speed
CCT MP/speed; assumes 80kts?
BPM AGL/2000ft/4000ft/6000ft
VNE etc.

and anything else I have forgotten that I may need!

Thanks in advance...Flik

Have found a few figures.......however i can't be sure these are from the flight manual.

Design Load Factor
Normal category Aerobatic category
+5g / -3g +6g / -5g

Airspeed Limitations

(VNE) 174kt IAS
Maximum level speed, sea level 134kt TAS
Maximum structural cruising speed (VNO) 139kt IAS

Manoeuvring speed (VA) (max weight)
Normal category: 105kt IAS
Aerobatic category: 115kt IAS

Maximum demonstrated crosswind: 17kt IAS

Stall speeds (angle of bank)
20°: 47kt IAS
30°: 55kt IAS
40°: 66kt IAS

VY (best rate of climb) 69kt IAS
VR (rotation) 49kt IAS
VS1 (stall, clean) 46kt IAS

Takeoff distance, ground roll: 495ft
Takeoff distance over 50 ft obstacle: 904ft
Landing distance over 50 ft obstacle: 1051ft
Landing distance, ground roll: 425ft
Rate of climb, sea level: 1280ft/min

Approach speed: 65kts
approach speed (short field) 60kts

Cruise speed / endurance w 45 min reserve @ 75% power
127kt TAS / 3.4hr
Fuel consumption @ altitude 9.5gph @ 5000ft

Cruise speed / endurance w 45 min reserve @ 55% power
111kt TAS / 4.4hr
Fuel consumption @ altitude 7.6 gph@ 5000ft

Service ceiling: 15800 ft

Maximum inverted time: 2min

Maximum gross weight (takeoff and landing) 1800lb
Empty weight (typical) 1340lb
Useful loadL 460lb
Payload with full fuel: 226lb
Maximum baggage: 100lb
Fuel capacity (usable) 39gal (u.s. gallons I presume)

Hope this helps. Nice aircraft, would'nt mind having a flight in one myself.

Forgot to mention........take off is full power, but the book seems to reccomend after 1000ft agl reducing to climb power......which is 2500rpm and 25in Hg manifold pressure.

Of course as you know, every operator may well have their slightly modified figures they use.

Also I can\'t find the MTOW for Aerobatic category....the 1800lb I quote i assume is the normal category.

Have fun!!

Flik,

Surely if you are doing a checkout, then your 'checker' would impart all of the info that Booke23 so generously provided to you in the pre-flight brief.....

....Or is it a 'self checkout'?

yes my instructor would...but i prefer to be on the ball rather than to faff around with niff naff and trivia in a pre-flight brief, which should focus on the sortie and not so much on the a/c
