Ear Plugs...

On the rotorheads forum there's a thread concerning the use of earplugs and basically they sound like a good idea - considering you only get one pair of ears in life.

Does anyone here use them? Would they be as useful in a light aircraft or are they best at cutting out the high frequency whine from turbines that's fatiguing in a chopper?

I don't often, because I'm happy with the quality of my headsets - but have done on occasion and yes they do help a lot in a particularly noisy flying machine. I seem to remember that in a PA31 they were virtually essential.
