ADF receiver

Can someone please tell me the statutory reference for the requirement to carry an ADF receiver in a G reg whilst operating IFR in IMC and for which classes of airspace the requirment exists.

Hi Fuji,

Have a look at Schedules 4 Article 12 and Schedule 5 Article 15 of the ANO (http://www.caa.co.uk/publications/pu...ils.asp?id=226)

HWD - Ah - just what I was looking for many thanks.

Presumably by implication if you did not want to carry an ADF receiver and got permission not too that would be fine but equally presumably the Act would require you to 'phone every en route class D controller before each flight. I guess the exemption is really there to permitt one off flights when a particular piece of equipment is inoperable?

Fuji,

That would be my take on it. I wouldn't suppose it to be a problem if you have a VOR and a transponder.
