Sheffied City Airport to Sheffield City Center
Afternoon folks,
Could one of the locals up there tell me the best/most convenient way to get from Sheffield City Airport into the city center itself?
Does that new-fangled super-tram stop anywhere near the airport or is it a case of stumping up the dough for a taxi?
Ta in advance!!

I've never done it, but I'm led to believe the tram stops at the airport.
I'm sure they'll tell you at the airport if you call them - I don't think they're that busy as a rule !

Hi Topcat450,
I'm a local so this is the deal. You can either phone a cab which I do not know the cost of or how long you would have to wait.
Or, there is a bus that stops outside the Airport building and will take you into the city centre. It calls at the Airport on the hour and again on the half hour. The journey time is about 20 minutes and if you ask the driver for an "All Day Saver", this will cost about £3 and you can use it on any First bus in Sheffield on that day.
As for the tram, it doesn't really serve the airport but if you wished to say go from Sheffield centre to Meadowhall, the tram is the best way to go and the very same bus that goes from the airport to Sheffield, stops at Meadowhall and heads back into Sheffield via the airport.
Oh, the bus number is A1 and it goes past the Morrisons where I go shopping. If you want further info click on this South Yorkshire Transport Executive and click on the green bit that says "Timetable enquiry". It will take you to a different coloured screen and on this, select timetables again. Where it says service, enter "A1" and put in your journey details as appropriate.
It will show you the times of buses from the airport and back again.
Or just get a taxi.
Hope this helps.

No tram stop (near) the airport.
There is a bus to
(a) Sheffield City (every 30mins) or
(b) To Meadowhall Interchange (alternate 15 mins to City) which which take a bus or tram or train to City
Or get a cab which Lynne or one of the reception team can call for you, about £6 to Sheffield Station.
Or wait by the exit looking pilot like and somebody make take pity and give you a lift.
NB I only know about the bus because of being 'car less' after flying in from maintenance. You have to be quick to flag it down because it drives up and it goes ....
