Cost of hangarage in UK

Expect anywhere between 200 pcm and 500 pcm. The UK is a big place and there are more and less costly areas to be in. Similarly, you'll pay more for hangarage on an all-weather airfield with ILS and lights, than you will on a farm strip.

That sounds about right to me. And don't forget that if you're hangering at one of the bigger spots, the landing fees, and potentially out-of-hours handling fees, to say nothing of the fuel prices, will all contribute to the "wallet wince" factor !

No electricity but water supply and unrestricted movements.

There would be points for and against but the lack of landing fees would be a big bonus

i think at Goodwood you would be looking at about 250pcm for a warrior sized aeroplane. Bearing in mind you would have to spend 90 quid for the aero club membership, landing fees, not to mention 1.13 ltr for avgas.
Got mine at Compton Abbas hangared for 130 pcm with a landing card that makes the rest of it impressively affordable.

Its a lot less expensive outside the London area. Yes you might pay £250 and more at the likes of White Waltham, Redhill, Shoreham and even more at Fairoaks, but get 100 miles north or west of London and its much cheaper. More like £100 per month or less. Of course it depends if you are in a nice hangar with lots of space, or all jamed into a big hangar that leaks...

Hinton in the Hedges was (when I asked a few years back) £150 + VAT pcm. Not a farmstrip but unlicensed.

I pay £75 pcm for an unlit draughty hangar about 2 miles from home. There is no water or power and the track to it is rutted and very muddy. The 600 M runway is hard with weeds and broken tarmac and was last resurfaced in 1944. No landing fees, no restrictions, no radio, no nuffink. But it's home!

At the 500m strip in the NE where my pride and joy is hangared a 172 would cost about £100 per month including "Club Membership" (which entitles you to free landings).
I was the only user for a year but once the word got out the hangars were full.
B. nuisance having to move everything around to go flying but make no mistake I/we know when we are well off!

They're virtually all new hangars and an Airport with 3 hard runways, lighting , ATC , navaids etc. Some hangars are owned by private companies, but if you keep it in the 'Company' hangars, the Fire Crew will move it for you and fill it up with fuel.

Of course it depends if you are in a nice hangar with lots of space, or all jamed into a big hangar that leaks...

Mono because, as ever, I'm looking for somewhere that doesn't cost 250 squids a month to keep the rain off the Auster! Where she is now is a lovely hangar (as Stik can confirm) with all the mod cons on a lovely airfield that is a 20 min drive through the lovely Hertfordshire countryside from my home but even with all those "lovelys" in the description it's still 250 quid a month!!

If I had an aircraft ('twill be a good while yet), I'd either buy a composite and let it sit in the rain or get a really good tarp and dehumidifier.
No way I'd pay to give it hangar rash!

Believe me, it's very comforting on a dark and rainy night to lay in bed and listen to the wind howling round the chimney pots, knowing your aircraft is safely tucked up as well instead of being out in a nasty wet cold windy field!
There is also the security aspect of knowing that finger pokers are not roaming round it while you are not there.

Very good point, especially after that nastiness with the tornado at EIDW.
I wouldn't mind fingers poking around if they knew what they were doing... unfortunately most of the public (and a fair few pilots) don't. Problem is the expense - especially in Ireland. But that's another story. Think I'll glide before I fly seriously - cheaper that way!
