NORTH WEALD..The Last Chance.. please help.

Hi everyone,
Please see the North Weald Airfield Users Groups (NWAUG) latest information leaflet, reproduced below.

As the Christmas and New Year celebrations are behind us we are now concentrating on gaining as many responses as possible to RSS 14, the most important and FINAL consultation document, the contents of which are pretty bleak.

I hope that instructions below are self explanatory, but if not, please visit our website at www.northwealdairfield.org

We need ALL, and I mean ALL, of you to respond.

Thanks for your anticipated assistance....

Finally, if you live in the Epping Forest area write to your district Councillor who is listed at: http://www.eppingforestdc.gov.uk/loc...councillor.asp
and tell him you will not be voting for him next time round if the Airfield goes.
Interestingly, most of them (including the Leader) have a majority of about 50! The EFDC own the Airfield and are minded to sell it!

UV
Chairman NWAUG

PS Mr Mod..can you stick this for me please!

Leaflet reproduced below;

HELP SAVE NORTH WEALD AIRFIELD

We need you to do 2 simple things

1- Register on our website www.northwealdairfield.org
2- Lodge your objections to RSS14 (see below)

The latest (and most important to date) document, known as RSS 14, specifically names North Weald Airfield as an opportunity for development of 6000 homes plus industrial area as well as a park and ride facility together with a rail link passing right through connecting to Harlow and Stansted.

If RSS14 goes ahead, it would obviously mean the loss of North Weald Airfield within a few years' time meaning the loss of this leisure facility used by thousands every week.

We have posted details of this plan (together with other direct links) on our website www.northwealdairfield.org – then click on the CAMPAIGN page.

RSS14 is effectively the final study to be produced before the planning policy is adopted and is out to public consultation NOW and only until 16th March 2005. It is imperative that everyone who wishes to support the continued existence of North Weald Airfield registers their objections to RSS14 as soon as possible.

This can be done in several ways either:-

Fill in the consultation form on the EERA website at:
http://eera.web-labs.co.uk/eerapublicconsultation/

OR by e mail to:
[email protected]

Or by letter to:
East of England Regional Assembly
Flempton House
Flempton
Bury St Edmunds IP28 6EG

We appreciate not everyone has time to digest the full 300 plus pages of the report and have therefore suggested some valid comments which can be found on the Users Group website www.northwealdairfield.org

Website: www.northwealdairfield.org
Email: [email protected]
Post: North Weald Airfield Users Group

PLEASE TURN OVER………..

For maximum impact, we know that copying your responses to the following people definitely has a positive effect for the airfield – so please circulate your objections to the following (it costs nothing to do by email and at most a few stamps)…..

Rt Hon John Prescott MP
Deputy Prime Minister
Office of the Deputy Prime Minister
26 Whitehall
London SW1A 2WH
[email protected]

Lord Rooker (Minister of State for Housing, Planning & Regeneration)
Office of the Deputy Prime Minister
26 Whitehall
London SW1A 2WH
[email protected]

Eleanor Laing MP (MP for the Epping Forest Constituency, which includes North Weald)
House of Commons
Westminster
London SW1 0AA
[email protected]

Mr. John Knapman, Leader
Epping Forest District Council
Council Offices
High Street
Epping, Essex, CM16 4BZ
[email protected]

The airfield thanks you for your support.

Hi
Just to elaborate on one thing!

If you are not sure what to say visit www.northwealdairfield.org and follow the link to "Campaign".

There are suggested comments listed there.

For maximum effect we do NOT encourage "standard" letters or petitions as experience has shown that these will be counted as a single objection, despite their numbers.

Please write individual letters, in your own words, using the suggested comments as you wish.

Many thanks
UV

Well it took a while, but I have now replied to each individual point via the web consultation form, summarised all objections in individual letters to all the above, plus sent same by email.

It was a pain in the bum, but I actually felt pretty good afterwards - a bit less helpless. If everyone on this forum does the same then they've GOT to listen surely? I'm positive most unpopular decisions get by due to apathy.

UV

I've sent you an extract from a property magazine which deals with the legality or otherwise of denying the public access to sites which they have enjoyed for more than 20 years for leisure activities. I hope that it helps. OPst here if you don't receive it.

Many thanks to UV and the others who work so hard to keep our airfield open. It really is a special place to be. I only wish I'd been there longer than I have! Please, if you haven't been to see the airfield, do so, and see for yourselves what we might lose.

Wilco. I'll see what I can arrange. Now, do I want to be at work & doing the radio, or off work & able to socialise?

Ok, head over the parapet time. The loss of GA airfields in the UK is pissing me off big time, BUT so does some of the flying behaviour I see at North Weald. I fly past a hell of a lot as well as visit. Guys, this is GA not the few. Please lets not give that fat F er Prescott excuses to build on North Weald. Good neighbourliness is essential, not just with those on the ground, but with other aerodromes in the area. Rant over e-mails sent to those listed.

Good luck guys

I didn't hear you complaining. And I just remembered, weren't you meant to be bribing me with some out of date charts for my cadets?

I'm still working on a date for a forum get-together. How does mid-March suit?

Devil

It is an imagination provoking airfield. After an evening's gliding I went into the old ATC tower: how the ghosts of history did walk.
In the role of devil's advocate. One question.
With the need for housing stock, have the figures been totalled?
Measuring aircraft usage, versus the close proximity to main thoroughfares.
Dear old NW did serve this land so well in 1940's and it is a flat site; not a new untouched farmers field. In addition Stansted is just up the road. The Civil Aviation Authority will have safety implications to consider.

Now don't get mad at me. Pprune is for seasoned and reasoned discussion.

Can't let Toad Prescot get away with building another CHAV estate on a great airfield!
