Customs at Calais?

Can anyone clarify the situation with Calais regarding Customs please? Do I have to notify them if I plan to fly direct from the UK, and whom do I notify? Or is it a definite no-no??

Hi Courtman

LFAC used to have customs available during the notified opening hours of the airport however sadly this is no longer the case.

Your options now are to either:- send a fax to the local customs office giving details of your intended flight (ensuring you give sufficient notice) or, land elsewhere which does have permanent customs (such as LFAT) and then fly on to Calais, etc.

Don't forget that you must also depart France via a customs airfield. I nearly got caught out on this one a couple of years ago departing LFOT - I got a ticking off from "les douanes" for not giving the correct notification as I had not appreciated the requirements.

Let me know if I can help further,
