Flying in Austria

Off to Kitzbuhel 28th August, anybody got any experience of flying or gliding at local clubs.

I know there's a club at Zell am See and a gliding club at St. Johann, anybody flown there?

No but I flew out of Niederoblarn near Schladming when I was skiing there in '03 (having asked the same question on Pprune and got an answer from someone who had flown there!). I just called up the field told them I'd like to rent an aircraft plus a safety/mountain pilot and they were more than happy to oblige. We flew up towards Badgastein near Zell am See - at 11,500 ft the views were stunning and it rates as one of the highlights of my flying experiences to date.

Sorry it's doesn't answer your question but I thought it may be of some use as you've had no other feedback as yet. The Austrians are friendly and helpful, I'd just call the airfield/clubs up and I'm sure they'll talk you through the options.
