FAA training in North West

I have just purchased a very nice Bonanza A36 and I wish to do the FAA IR (I am having the plane put onto the "N") and I was intending to go to the US and do one of these two week courses but I understand that there are instructors in the UK that can do the training. Does anybody know (or has used) an instructor in the North West for this.

I am based at Blackpool.

Just been told that FAA writtens can again be done in the UK at Norwich.

I know there were some people over here that were thinking about having to go to Le Bourget as FlightSafety was the only outfit for a few months.

In Europe there are 5 locations where one can do a FAA Test.

http://www.flightsafety.com/ In Paris/Bourget (France)

http://www.flyafts.co.uk/
In Norwich (UK)

http://www.vpair.nl/index.php In Lelystad (Holland)

http://www.southaer.com/main/home/index.html
In Cork Ierland

http://www.n-flight.com/
In Frankfurt/Egelsbach Germany.

The latter is a CATS test center. The rest are LaserGrade test centers.

Cheers.

FAA TRAINING

Hi Stuart,

I fly with the BAE club at Westair in Bpl, and I know that John Westoby (owner) holds an FAA licence, not too sure if he can instruct FAA IR, but he might be worth a call!

I did. But that was before the accident that claimed Glen Stewart. There are fewer and fewer people able to give the training and the FAA seem to be happy about that.

LF

ps JW at Westair holds an FAA license but I do not believe he is able/does any FAA training.

You can procure the PTS (Practical Test Standards) from a number of outlets (Gleim and ASA spring to mind)

The Gleim offering is a syllabus of sorts.

I admit to not reading it but if you are keen to have a look at it, send me a PM and I will try to find it.

FD

(As a testament to the amount of reading I did in it: it's the PTS for Commercial Pilot not IR that I have)

I appreciate that it's some way from Blackpool, but Angel City Flyers at Enstone, Oxfordshire also offers FAA IRs.
