Antonov AN2

I would really like to fly an Antonov AN2. Does anybody know of an operator with an AN2 who could do a checkout? Thanks

Smile AN-2

There are two Antonov AN-2's at White Waltham one of which was being flown on a checkout today.

I am not sure if it is available to anybody but it may be worth giving Waltham a ring to see what you can find out.

Talking to one of the ground crew today they used both fuel pumps to fill the AN-2 up at the same time and it still took 20 minutes! Apparently the rate is £500 per hour!!

There is a plan afoot to offer flights for PPLs in the AN 2 at Waltham, which recently came back from being fiddled with by engineers in Hungary . I know one of the instructors involved and will ask him how the plan is going.

There used to be a yellow one (which IIRC was painted in the colours of a butter-spread) at Wellesbourne but that seems to have disappeared.

A poster on here who I have not seen around for a little while (ISTR) he was called Sunny Side up or something of that ilk.

May be someone on here knows what happened to that one. I do know that some Prooners either have flown in it or were going to do so when we had a bash at Sywell in October 02.

I believe James Black is the "operator" of the An-2 at WW. His company is Avia Special and I have a number 01707-262774 but I don't know how current that is. Hope this helps.

NinjaBill, apparently you can consider yourself told. "The best defence is a good offence", I guess.

You'd think at least he would have had the decency to get your username right.
