Light aircraft lease
Light aircraft lease
Hi there,
Just wondering what the going rate for leasing a c152/172 back to a flying school are, dry or wet. How much roughly I could pick one up for in the UK? £20-30K? Is there any profit in it?
Are most flying schools open to this sort of arrangement or do they generally own their aircraft?
Just trying to see if the costs work out.
Thanks

Expect around £30 per hour. Average use would be around 700hrs a year at a busy school. Less at a smaller one. They do routine maintanance (50hrs etc) you do annual.
And generally speaking there is very little profit in it!

Bose-x,
Thanks for that. As a ball park, what would be the sort of money you'd be looking at for an annual on a C152 say 20-25years old that is used as a trainer?
I know its an impossible question, but as a rough guide.
Cheers

Thats the million dollar question! One of ours went through on £5k last time and another on £1800. It depends on the quality of the aircraft you buy in the first place and how well it is taken care of during its lease work.
I guess if I was advising you I would say allow £3k per year as an average.
