where can i fly a jet??
does anyone know of anywhere in the uk where you can get experiance flights in a jet
i have been looking for ages with no luck
all i have found on the net are migs at £6000 - a bit much
i am training for my ppl and am nearly there

I flew at Kemble with Delta Jets in one of their Hunters and it was a fantastic experience (costly though!).
Andy Cubin who sometimes posts on Pprune was the pilot and he did a fantastic job, before, during and after the flight, answering all my myriad questions etc., making it a day to remember.
I'd highly recommend it.

Hi Vikki,
There used to be an outfit at Swansea which flew Vampires but I am unsure if they are still around.
I'll try and dig out a school in California which will train you to solo standard in a jet, but you need an FAA IR before they'll take you on.
Kemble and Delta Jets is probably the better option... I believe they train you to fly Hunters and if you buy a share in one you'd be able to take it out... solo!!!!
Now that must be the ultimate PPL Jet...
...with the exception of a Citation Jet which are Single Pilot Approved but you'd still need a PPL/IR at least for one of those.
RichyRich: Not all the regionals fly jets - Air Wales only has ATR42 Turboprops. Oh then again thats the national airline for Wales so maybe that doesn't count as a regional.

We can fly you in the JP, Gnat or Hunter.
I recommend the JP or the Hunter with side by side seating.
Give them a call on 01285 771494 and talk to Andrew Barnes, the chief engineer.
Never had anyone leave without a stupid grin!

In Sante Fe, New Mexico, you can fly MIG 15.

You might get something if you talk to the musem down here in Bounemouth. A lot of privately-owned Vampires/Venoms flying, some 2-seat, and must be expensive enough to welcome a cost sharer!

Years and years ago (mid 60's anyway) when I was a Sub Lieutenant RNR, I did a spot of training at Yeovilton. On offer during my 2 weeks there was a flight to Lossiemouth and back in a Phantom (weather an a/c availability permitting) and a local in a Hunter.
I checked out ready for the Phantom flight (medical and ejector seat - the whole works) but sadly it never actually happened. The Hunter flight did though. I flew with Lt Marcus Edwards who later went on to become better known through his association with the Rothmans Team.
My experience that day set in motion the realisation that I really did want to learn to fly and ended many years later when I gained my PPL at Bodmin.
Awesome just wasn't the word to describe the hour or so we were in the air. I was offered the opportunity to take the controls but I confess that I was so gobsmacked by the experience that I didn't want to do that. I just wanted to sit there and drink it all in.
And the best part of it was that it didn't cost me a penny.

What about an L39C? I'm thinking of doing the training (for fun) in the US once I finish the PPL/IR - expensive enough but very much worth it I believe - anyone else done it?
