Blackbushe Aviation
All.
Does anyoen have any feedback on Blackbushe Aviation / RedAir?
I have been and had a look around, and the planes seam good and the people friendly. However, it does seam a little expensive (or is that a reality around here, and I am just from the dark north?).
If anyone has any helpful feedback on experiances I would be very greatful - also any ideas on cheap and chearful hire for those of us still paying off student loans?

You're within about 15 miles of the M25........CHER-CHING!!!!! I think most schools are a bit more expensive down that way!
My PPL was £2995 when I did it at Blackbushe nearly 10 years ago with the school that used to be where Redair are now. ...........it still sounds expensive to me all this time later!!!!

I did my PPL at Blackbushe Aviation (Redair) in about 48hrs (incl skills test). I mention the hours because I think that is an indication of the quality of instruction more than anything. They are all a good bunch and the instructors are all very competant. Their administration used to be a little disorganised but I couldn't really care less about that, I just wanted to learn to fly properly!
A good assortment of reliable aircraft and a reasonably well mainted fleet.

I agree with HWD, I used to work in rented offices in the tower and used BBA to keep my PPL current (after getting it revalidated through them).
The aircraft in general were good, I pretty much had complete access to the Tomahawk as no-one else wanted to fly it! and the instructors and resident examiner were a good bunch of guys both in their professionalism and general manner. Had many a laugh with them in Biggles Bistro over lunch. I think their organisational skills has improved a lot with regards to flying slots and ground instruction.
The cost unfortunately is standard for anywhere around London, if anything I found them to be on the cheaper side of the options.
Though I had the added advantage of already being at the airfield so travelling costs were negligible.

By the way in the general aviation magazines someone offers a C-152 for hire at Biggin that seems cheap, though it might be difficult to actually get the aircraft for a flying slot.

I own a share in an aircraft at Blackbushe, and am a regular flyer there.
I joined Blackbushe aviation initially as a 'social' member in order to use all their facilities - ie everything short of using their aircraft.
They have been extremely friendly, and nothing is ever too much trouble. Indeed, as a result I have asked their instructors to fly with me on a number of occasions for rating additions and currency checks. They are all enthusiasts, and are interested in all that is going on at the field, not just their own aircraft and students - unlike some clubs I have known. On one occasion my aircraft went u/s on start, and without hesitation they offered me one of theirs to do the trip.
As ever, each must make up their own mind, but I would suggest going for a trip with the CFI or any one of the instructors to get a feel for their enthusiasm and attitude to students.
