Hooker Harness
Is there a definitive way to do up a Hooker Harness?
I've always attached five points to the top (ratchet) and two on the bottom. Then the other day the subject was brought up with three other aeros pilots and only then did I realise that there are a whole host of alternatives:
- one guy attached five points to the bottom and left the ratchet on its own
- one guy attached three points to the bottom and the two shoulder straps to the top ratchet
- the final guy attached five points to the top, but had the negative g strap underneath the bottom attachment point.
I could see merits in them all but just wondered if there's a consensus here?

My Hooker harness only has 4. I assume you're talking of the 5/7 point aerobatic set-up, with two of the points independent of the other 5, with a ratchet mechanism. The only time I've used one (as a pax) we assembled the 5, then the 2, then tightened the 5 and then the 2 with the ratchet. Then tightened them all again while taxying. I came back with cramp.
