How to become an old pilot

I am perusing an NBAA magazine and came across this. Apologies if it has already appeared, but I thought there were some wise points, relevant to all.......

"Airline pilots were asked to state in a single sentence or less the one rule they never break and which they thought was most important in keeping them alive in the air. Their one-line answers form a mosaic law for survival.

Be skeptical of all human inputs
Follow the book, don't shortcut
Maintain crew coordination
Plan ahead; be prepared
Recognize and combat complacency
Minimize nonessential talk during take-ff, approach and landing
Don't assume, double check
Think of the next two things
Always have a way out
Understand your limits and those of your airplane"

Alternatively,
sit down and work out what your flying is costing you.
You will look an awful lot older when you have finished.

Traditional saying:
You're only as old as the woman you feel
So I say go for an older woman, and you'll be ok

(Female pilots may prefer to ignore this, or alter it as appropriate.)
