I live in Bridgend, and the most useful airfield is Cardiff (Rhoose). If you give Cardiff Wales flying club a call on 01446 710000 they can give you any details that you need. Rhoose is about 25 minutes drive from Bridgend. If you wanted a smaller, cheaper airfield then try Swansea. Be careful though - I believe that it is closed on 1 day of the week, and is an absolute ****** to get to (about an hour from Bridgend)

Hi Foggles,
Cardiff Airport is to the west of Cardiff.
As has been mentioned above Bridgend is around a 20 to 30 minute drive away from the flying club, Swansea is anywhere around an hour as you have to drive through Swansea town to get from Bridgend to Swansea airport on the Gower.
Park on the southside which is the club area of the airport, if you park northside then you'll be charged a astranomical handling charge.
The ATCO's at Cardiff are all friendly to us G.A. types.
Oh and if you're taking the ILS into Cardiff on Runway 12 see if you can spot a large fish at around six miles out that someone has carved into the hillside recently. (Not me guv).
Best wishes,
Charlie Zulu.
