Question Maule Tailwheel Parts ?

Anyone know where I can get parts (leaf spring mounting bracket) for a Maule 8" tailwheel in the UK.

Failing that does anyone know a stockist in central Florida, as I'm off there in a few weeks.

Can't find a webiste for them to check, I understand they are not the same company as the aircraft man. ?

Light Aero Spares in Devon list a complete Maule 8" tailwheel assembly in their 2002/2003 catalogue on page 136, as well as various parts. Telephone number is 01409-281578.

There seem a number of difference variants, you might want the offending part and a ruler in front of you when you phone them.

I've bought quiet a lot of bits from light-aero, they're generally fairly cheap and very slick in getting bits to you quickly.

For one stop shopping Aircraft Spruce is hard to beat. I believe they now have a branch in England (Hertfordshire). Maul Parts link looks like it lists the part you are looking for.

Good Luck

I use LAS a lot - but if they can't help you and you are off to Fl, phone Aircraft Spruce in Georgia on their 0800 # and have the bits consigned to your hotel 3 day UPS.

Most of my most recent 3 day UPS to hotel has arrived in under 2 days - they can express it (UPS RedStar) for delivery befor enoon next day but this costs only a few quid more.

As Genghis says do be v careful with Maule parts as there are some anomolies, esp. with diameters of the machined fork end!

If replacing the vertical pivot bush (cheap and worthwhile if you have shimmy) remove the two screws holding the unlocking cam first as they go through the casting and press on the bush preventing its removal (did on ours anyway).

Spares available from Aircraft Spruce. When I enquired Light Aero only did complete assemblies.

Be careful of ordering parts from light-aero in the UK. Check the import duty, delivery charges and the charge levied for administering the import duty. I once ended up paying 2½ times the list price for some bits of material to repair a composite aeroplane.

Thanks for the info. I have seen the part in the spruce catalogue, so will mail order it when I'm in Florida in December. Should be far cheaper for a small part, not stocked over here.
I've got an old model 8" air tyre wheel, with the shimmy damper, for a 1 1/2" leaf spring, just want to get the 1 3/4 " bracket so it will fit my Auster, cheaper than buying a new one.

Now I'm also in need of some mags and a carb (10-3678-32) for a 0320, that I don't have old cores for. Would these be cheaper bought stateside and what about bringing then back in my suitcase ?
