Weekly Bookings

After reading some articles in some magazines i was wondering how would i go about booking an aircraft for a week or so?

Does it still go on an hourly rate or is it just booking the aircraft.

I'm not thinking about it for the near future just generally wondered if i'd like to fly to France and around for a week.

Thanks

Spike

Best thing to do is speak to your club, since every club will have different rules. It's quite common to have some kind of minimum number of hours, e.g. you must fly at least 4 hours per day (or pay for that amount of time even if you don't fly it.)

Buying a share may be an easier way of doing this kind of trip without any minimum hours requirement. And, as a bonus, you still have the use of the aircraft after your trip!

Some clubs have a very low minimum hours requirement, especially if it's not at weekends. Some won't let you do it at all. It really depends on the club.

Spikee,

Dependant on your experience and the number of types you have flown it might be well worth looking at the 'aircraft for hire' columns in the aviation press. You might get a better deal than a club aircraft and more flexibility. On the other hand the owner would probably want to see your flying and you might have to ferry it from where its based and back again.

ok thanks, i'll have an ask around at the club and have a look into shares/rental. I'm a bit lacking in experience at the moment but hope to change that in the next year.

Usual I have found is 2 Hrs/Day weekdays and 3 Hrs/Day weekends.

Dependant on how well you know the club though I sometimes found is possible to wangle getting away with less than these.
