Adding this report from elsewhere in the forum:
In the meantime, can I have a quick whinge about something I've noticed since I started accessing PPRuNe on an Android phone. In the "User CP" view, each page title is immediately below the "unsubscribe from this forum" line/button for the page above. I lose track of the occasions I've inadvertently unsubscribed from a page and need to go back into forums view, find the page, and re-subscribe. Could the unsubscribe script please either be moved over to the right where it won't get accidentally pressed, or an intermediate "are you sure: yes/no" window used to stop this happening? If I'm doing it, presumably so are many others. |

Any chance of a way to save your user name and password on the Android app?
Or am I just being stupid by not seeing how to do that? |
I don't have an Android phone; otherwise, I'd just test that myself. I've forwarded your question to the tech team. In the meantime, if any other Android user wants to weigh in, feel free to do so.

Any progress on Tapatalk. A plugin needs to be installed on the forum software and if I am not mistaken there is no cost to the forum.

On my Android App I do not have to re enter my password I just make sure that I do not log off when I leave the app.

iPhone4S Connection Problem
Having taken the plunge into the world of smartphones with the purchase of an iPhone4S last month, I was delighted to discover the PPRuNe app. However, at random times it comes up with the message "There appears to be a connection issue between your device and PPRuNe App. Please try again" The 'rotating bicycle wheel' symbol is active in the bottom right corner of the screen (but not always in the top status bar). Other apps such as Tapatalk and ForumRFree work fine. I have deleted and reinstalled the PPRuNe app, to no avail. Anyone have a similar problem? Solution?

Well, PPRuNe occasionally has database difficulties, so the site just might be ailing while you are trying to access the site. Why don't you give this some time, say, a few weeks, to see if you consistently get this error message?

Ref my post #50, I have been monitoring things:-
As per Radix's comment on the 'last post unread' icon, touching this gives a brief show of the little rotating spoked wheel but nothing else happens. Is there a planned date for the intro of Forum Runner? I am subscribed to a photography forum that uses this app and it works fine on my iPhone4S. A shame that the PPRuNe one appears not to! |

Since the deal with Forum Runner just happened (last week, maybe?), that relationship is just starting, so I don't have any dates yet regarding integration. If/when I get details, I'll share them. |

The iPad app is actually an iPhone app according to Apple. The significance is in the viewing experience.
On the ipad the Pprune app appears as a small mobile phone in the centre of the screen. You can double the size by clicking on '2x' but then you lose the resolution making it unpleasant to use. Using Pprune on safari (the Apple web browser) is far, far better. I see the full screen and have all the normal functionality. MH152 |

Is there / are there going to be an ipad version . That would be stonking the iphone x2 is ok but could be improved

There are currently no plans for an iPad-specific app. The mobile app developers suggest viewing the site normally on an iPad, without using the current mobile app.

Just a reminder to folks to upgrade to the latest versions of the Android/iOS apps if they haven't done so already.

Using latest Android OS (ICS, 4.0)
I only get the most recent 10-15 threads when signing in. No option to go to a main page or click on a particular forum. Perhaps I'm still getting used to the device, but as with iPad using the inbuilt browser and Opera Mini gives better results. Could be it's not a phone either, but a 7" tablet that's making it act up. App is the latest version also. Once I can work out how to get a screencap on here I can post so you see what I mean. But it's a good start. Ok logged in and can see subscribed threads but not forums themselves? |

Minor issues with latest version of app:
- "Wingaway & Heron" on main site is displayed as: "Wingaway & Heron" in the Android app. All other ampersands are displayed the same. - The "Refresh" button has a down-arrow on it, but no dropdown list appears when the button is tapped. Also, on a new screen, the Refresh button is in the middle bottom of the screen. When tapped, it jumps to the right margin, and in the case of the "Subscribed" display, the button text is split: http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w...t_000011-1.png - Minor niggle: my username has initial caps, but the app shows all lower case. Ok right got it. Realised what you're talking about isn't a button in the app itself but on the lower end of the screen. Not always there so didn't notice it til now. Cheers.
Still wondering why the Home screen isn't the forum list though, presume there's a reason? |

Just noticed this and tried for first time, am using android gingerbread 7" tablet.
Good, easy to use, very easy to read, automatic landscape/portrait. But at 7" in landscape I find the non-app site is perfectly usable and has more controls available so I may swing both ways. Posted from Pprune.org App for Android |

Thanks for the report, mike-swm. These apps are not optimized for tablet use, just phone use, so the tech team has recommended just using the regular version of the site on tablets. |
